The current volatile period gives Russia a chance to decisively move towards its policy of maintaining the closest possible relations with each of the two Koreas, separately.

170 positive years versus approximately 60 negative ones. Friendship and cooperation between the U.S. and Russia is their more natural state, and in the long run their relations are likely to return to this historical norm.

Can the Alternative for Germany be a desirable alternative for Russia? The AfD’s positions are mostly favorable to Moscow. Its emphasis on pragmatic economic cooperation could breathe life into old projects and new energy infrastructure initiatives. The AfD has voiced a desire for an early solution to the Ukrainian conflict.

For Russia, currently locked in confrontation with the West, China’s presence in Central Asia promises not only challenges, but also benefits, such as enhanced security and economic interconnectedness, providing Russia with necessary goods and filling vacuums that might otherwise be occupied by unfriendly countries.

Although the U.S. and China are leading in key AI development indicators, Russia has good chances to occupy its niche in the ethical and discursive dimension of AI competition, thus uniting states with similar dominant values.

Fyodor Lukyanov, Editor-in-Chief of Russia in Global Affairs magazine, had a conversation with Glenn Diesen. They discussed the possibility for Russia to transform relations with the US. While the EU used to be considered the “good West”, it is becoming the key opponent.
